Nigel Tucker has over twenty years local knowledge and experience in tropical ecosystem management, having grown up on the Atherton Tablelands and worked as Ranger in Charge at the Lake Eacham Centre for Tropical Restoration.

Nigel's Master's thesis highlighted the accelerated recovery of natural systems following ecological restoration efforts. The thesis told the story of a tropical forest linkage, the first of its kind to be engineered and assessed.

Nigel and his team harnessed enormous community interest and demonstrated the early success that can be achieved after intensive tree planting efforts.

Nigel manages BIOTROPICA AUSTRALIA's major projects. Nigel's botanical skills are used extensively in flora surveys, Regional Ecosystem verification and Property Management. In particular, Nigel has extensive knowledge of the Queensland electricity industry having worked on the environmental management of electricity assets since 1996, and intensively since 2002/03.
