Vegetation Offset Biocondition Assessment – Cairns

Biotropica Australia was commissioned to undertake an assessment of the ecological equivalence of two sites, one to be cleared for development and the other was the proposed offset site. Botanists completed biocondition assessments of the impact site and the proposed offset site to determine the relative values of each site, and the suitability of the vegetation on the offset site to provide the required ecological equivalence values required by Queensland’s Offset legislation.

On ground biocondition assessments were completed in accordance with the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection’s ‘Guide to determining terrestrial habitat quality’ (December 2014), whilst spatial assessment was completed by Biotropica’s in-house GIS specialist.
